Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how STREETBUS collects, uses and protects the personal information you share with us when you use this website or get in touch.
Who we are
STREETBUS is a project operated by American School Bus Co. Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. We are in the process of registering STREETBUS as a Community Interest Company (CIC). References to “STREETBUS”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy mean American School Bus Co. Ltd operating as STREETBUS.
For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at inbox@streetbus.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.
The information we collect
We only collect information we need to run STREETBUS and respond to you:
- Information you give us – when you complete a form on the site (for example to volunteer, sponsor, partner, hire the bus, donate or subscribe to updates), or when you email us. This may include your name, email address, phone number, organisation and the content of your message.
- Account information – if you are given access to a STREETBUS portal (Crew, Founders, Prospects or similar), we hold the login and profile details needed to provide that access.
- Information collected automatically – basic technical and usage data such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you view, gathered through cookies and analytics (see our Cookie Policy).
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiries and process volunteer, sponsor, partner, hire and donation requests.
- To send you updates and newsletters where you have asked to receive them.
- To operate and secure our portals and the website.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
Legal bases for processing
Under UK data protection law we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (for example, marketing emails and non-essential cookies); the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (for example, arranging a bus hire); our legitimate interests in running and promoting STREETBUS in a way that does not override your rights; and legal obligation where the law requires it.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to keep the site working and to measure how it is used. You can control these at any time – full details are in our Cookie Policy.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run STREETBUS, and only as far as needed:
- Payment and fundraising platforms (such as GoFundMe and Buy Me a Coffee) when you choose to donate. Your payment is handled on their systems under their own privacy policies.
- Email and hosting providers who deliver our messages and host this website.
- Analytics providers (Google) for the usage statistics described above.
- Authorities or advisers where we are required to do so by law.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No website can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to deal quickly with any issue.
Your rights
Subject to certain conditions, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw consent, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email inbox@streetbus.uk.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
Children’s privacy
STREETBUS works with young people in the community, but this website is aimed at a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Once STREETBUS is registered as a CIC, we will update our registration details here.
